Great place for an early morning breakfast while traveling. Close and convenient to I-81. I make this trip several times a year and usually stop at the Panera across the street. The last couple times I've been hitting the road at 3:30 a.m. to avoid DC and getting to Harrisonburg by 6:15. The Panera doesn't open till 7:00 a.m. here but then I spotted this place and noticed it was open and decided to take my break here. Nice assortment of bagels, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast plates. I got a Sausage, egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel. My sandwich was delicious, the bagel had just about the perfect chewy texture you would expect from a NY style bagel. Counter service was quick, but remember I was her at 6:30 am so I don't know how fast they are during a rush. The coffee bar, dining room and tables were clean. Two anyone bathrooms; the one I used was clean and well stocked. Definitely stopping here again while traveling.
Stop in here every time we are traveling to West Virginia but this morning was a little disappointed. I ordered a loaded lox which is my goto but this time they didn't toast either of our bagels. We never had to state we wanted bagel toasted and wish they would've at least asked. Also there was so much cream cheese on our bagels that we had to take most of it off so ask for light or on the side if you don't want more cream cheese than bagel. Otherwise bagels are great!
I'm always wary of bagels outside of New York. Mr j's is very good and would recommend giving them a shot.

I placed an online order for pickup at this location. When I arrived, there was plenty of parking nearby. My order was ready on time which is a huge plus. Upon evening the store, it smelled amazing and was visibly clean. My food order was clearly packaged and labeled for me to find. I ordered a couple dozen bagels for an event such as the everything bagel, berry, egg, plain, and cinnamon. I also ordered a variety of cream cheese - strawberry, plain, cinnamon, and Parmesan spinach. The bagels were a huge hit! I'd always heard wonderful things about Mr Js bagels and after this experience I'm also a fan. I'll definitely be returning to try out the breakfast sandwiches which I've also heard amazing things about.
I am driving from Texas headed to Philly and I happen to stop and get gas. Looked up Yelp and found Mr Js across the parking lot of the Shell station. Stopped in just to grab something. What I found is that the 2 young ladies at the counter were super nice. Being my 1st time here, they helped me narrow my choices. I ordered a Ham, egg and cheese bagel on an everything bagel. I also got a Pina Colada muffin. Also, Alejandra heard that I was driving cross country and gave me a Bagel bite to try for free. The food was really good but Alejandra's customer service was excellent. She was patient being that I have never been here and went over the menu options. Btw, the Bagel Bites she let me try were amazing! Thank you for the great service.
I hate that I have to drive to Harrisonburg for a good bagel but am thankful it's not any further. Great selection, including salt, jalapeño, asiago, and all the classics. A dozen comes with 14. They also have a bunch of different cream cheese flavors. Finally tried one of their breakfast sandwiches and wasn't disappointed! Anytime I'm in Harrisonburg, I HAVE to swing by Mr. J's before I go.
